Fudge & Family Christmas Memories

Enjoy the following recipe from Dagmar's recipe box!

I'm going to include memories from Christmas's past in this blog. I will add your favorite memories and recipes as soon as you e. mail them to me. The photo below was taken pretty soon after the new house was finished in 1960. Doris related that since there was fireplace they took advantage of hanging some stockings for the kids. This photo includes David, Theresa, Janet, Debra, Cathy, Diane and Warren.

I remember all the years when we were all 'younger' and congregated at Grandma L's house for the Christmas feast. There was the chili created by Virginia and the oyster stew created by Grandma L (I think). Then there was always the pickle spears, celery and carrots and the oyster crackers.

When Drew was very young we found out that he did not like the 'hamburger soup'. Usually we stopped at Mickey D's to get him a hamburger. (And I do believe that Uncle Bill was a member of the hamburger club with Drew) Or he spent the evening eating pickle spears and oyster crackers.

Then there was the 'dessert' table where everyone brought their favorite Christmas treats. And there was Lyle's punch.

We all probably ate too much, but enjoyed every bite.

Opening presents according to your age could be a real drag especially if you were at the wrong end of the age line. The more the family grew the longer you waited to open presents.

Actually the family event should have been scheduled for a whole weekend, so we would have had more time to spend with each other and enjoy our times together. Never enough time!

The other thing that was amazing about the family was how many birthdays there are in December. Brannon, Warren, Amy, Alice S. Doris and Peter. Did I miss any?

Being the 'oldest' of the cousins that joined this family 36 years ago. Wow what a FAMILY!
