Joseph's Coat & Brune Kager Recipe

This photo shows Dagmar by the planter on the front porch, with the Joseph's Coat plant. Also in the photo are Warren, Cathy and Janet. Aunt Ellen gave this Joseph's Coat plant to Dagmar when they moved into the "new" farmhouse. The plant is a warm weather plant and cuttings must be taken in and put in water or saved over the winter in dirt and then replanted outside the next spring. This plant has been in the planted in the front porch planter of the farm house since the spring after the house was completed. I still take cuttings in every winter and replant them in the planter in the spring. I will gladly share them, if someone would like one. These photos show the beautiful foliage of the plant.

The recipe I am inlcuding in this post is a traditional cookie recipe from Denmark. This one has been adapted from the metric measurements to the measurements we use in the US, and hand written on a peice of scratch paper from one of the seed companies! We enjoyed this fabulous cookie at Iver and Kirsten's when we were there in Novemeber in 2004. Kirsten said it was a traditional Christmas cookie recipe. It goes great with ice cream (our all American favorite!)

Hey,what trivia and family history, I always remember the plant but didn't realize that it has endured over 46 years?
I would love a sprig, what fun, thanks for sharing. I will get next time I come to Nebraska.

I am so glad to see what I call real Joseph's Coat. There are so many. I'm from maryland, but have lived in Paris for over 37 years. My mother is not in assisted living, but she manages to keep up her cuttings. I bring some back to France whenever I can.
