Grandma's little Organist!

HC has visited again this week and among his other "interests", he is facinated with sitting on grandma's lap ahd helping her practice the organ for church. He is usually pretty patient and waits to play "his part" until after I get done with my peice, but sometimes he just joins in playing with me.

Scenic Colorado Tour

A final scenic drive through western Colorado, on a clear cloudless day: before returning to Nebraska. This photo is on the Dallas Divide with the rugged San Juan mountains covered in snow in the background. The scenic byway continues through Norwood to the Delores River.

This photo is the Delores River canyon. The interesting thing in this photo is the remnants of a wooden flume, built in the 1880's; that carried water to the mining operations. The flume is hanging on the canyon wall about half way up (or down!). It was an engineering marvel that carried about 23 million gallons of water a day!
We continued to Gateway to have lunch at the new resort, and then continued on up the sceninc byway 141 to highway 50.

Springtime Snow!

A springtime snow has hit the Rockies! Here in the valley there has been an inch that melted when the sun came out and more coming today. Ken is not feeling so good! The mountains are literally getting "feet" of powder and he (we) can't take advantage of it, after his surgery!!!
Ken is doing well, other than feeling bad about not being able to ski right now!

Grand Valley at sunset

Farmer Ken wanted to take a hike before his surgery today. We hiked up Riggs Hill to get a view of the Grand Valley at sunset.

This photo is the valley with the Grand Mesa in the background.

This photo would be the veiw of the valley to your left of the above photo, with the bookcliffs and Mount Garfield across the valley.

Farmer Ken's surgery went amazingly well! We got to the hospital around 6 a.m. and were on the way back to the house by 10:45! No pain so far and all went extremely well!

HC Shares his cold!

HC hung out with grandma and grandpa one day early last week, and was very generous in sharing his cold with everyone! Now we are recovering. In spite of the consequences, we still enjoyed our afternoon together!
