Where are we?

Farmer Ken and farm wife have enjoyed adventures in western Colorado this week along with aunt and uncle. A trip to Gateway, Colorado on the Scenic Sky Way Byway 141, to see the development of a new resort, Gateway Canyons; in this remote town, proved intersting. Check out their site for more info: http://gtwycanyons.com/.
A new car museum will open May 1st, at the resort. Some information on the fabulous cars that will be displayed there is available at http://www.theautochannel.com/news/2005/02/01/019310.html.

After looking over the resort development we took an adventure along the north side of the Delores River road by the Palisades formation. After traveling about 6 miles, we really felt quite lost as is evidenced in the photo with the group by the van!
We continued on and finally saw a sign post that informed us we were at the Utah border.

We followed the road to a gate with a chain, which we passed through, since there weren't any no tresspassing signs. It turned out to be the end of the road at a remote ranch, about 10 miles from Gateway. After turning around to go back to Gateway, we could see a vehicle on the other side of the river.

We returned to Gateway and were given information that the road on the south side of the river also went to Utah and that there were also some petroglyphs towards the end of the road. Spectacular scenery along the river in the canyon was enjoyed and we had to turn around in Utah after the road got to steep for the van.

We found the petroglyphs, which were some of the finest we have seen!

We returned from the tour day refreshed from the beautiful nature experience!

Days in Paradise!

Farmer Ken and farm wife have enjoyed several days in paradise. For those of you unfmailiar with the area of Western Colorado, it is definitly a hidden treasure in our United States. Some say the area reiminds them of John Wayne Country. The climate is arid and the sun shines most days. Outdoor activities can include anything from a short trip to one of several ski areas, walking, hiking and enjoying the scenery, biking or golfing to name a few. The view in the photo is from the Colorado National Monument (not a manmade monument but a natural area of rock formations, rock walls and deep valleys). In the distance is the Grand Mesa, and the grand valley. An awesome view and experience.
